Visit to Elephant Breeding Center Chitwan – Of the two elephant-breeding centers that exist in the world one lies in the Chitwan National Park. In Nepal, the elephant is fast becoming one of the most endangered animals and the center was established to increase its numbers. You will have an opportunity to visit the breeding center. Learn about the efforts to increase the pachyderm population and get to see several cow elephants and their calves.
Elephant Breeding Center was established in 2044 BS with 6 male and 14 female elephants. Among 20 elephants, 16 was brought from India, 2 from Thailand and 2 elephants were received as a gift from Myanmar. Till the date of 2072 BS, the number of elephants is 51 which includes baby elephants too. This program is the part of 2 Nights 3 Days Package, so if you have booked it then you don’t worry, you will visit this place.
Opening time of Elephant Breeding Center Chitwan varies as per the seasons. Here goes below the details of opening time:

Wild Elephant frequently visits this center to fulfill their sexual thirst. Breeding Center is approx 3 KM far from Sauraha which takes around 10 min drive. It lies on the edge of Chitwan National Park which is the worthy place to visit during your trip to Sauraha. We have listed this program in “Things to do in Chitwan” category as well.
Elephants are used to petrol national park as well so you won’t see all the elephants during your visit to Elephant Breeding Center Chitwan. There are only 17 elephants in this center. Others elephants are in the field to preserve the national park and wild animals from poachers.
Elephant Safari Chitwan—which is almost synonymous of CNP— is the most popular and adventurous way to encounter with the scores of wild animals including rare one-horned rhinos and to elusive Royal Bengal Tigers as well as hundreds of species of birds and number of reptiles. The experienced Mahouts take you deep into the forest to ensure more sights of animals at closest possible distance to make your trips more enjoyable and meaningful.
Jeep Safari Chitwan – Jeep Safari in Chitwan National Park can be enjoyed by those visitors who do not want to ride the mighty tuskers. Through the open jeeps, visitors can catch glimpses of rare wild flora and fauna in their natural habitats. Jeep drive/safari will also take you to ‘Gharial Crocodile Breeding Centre’ at Kasara of CNP’s headquarters, where you can observe breeding activities of Gharial, Marsh Magar and tortoises alike.
Jeep Safari are usually scheduled at 1 PM on Sharing Basis. This tour lasts for 4-5 hrs. But if you want to reserve or go on private Jeep Safari it is possible to do so. Private Safaris can be done for half day (4 hrs) OR FULL Day 8 hrs.
NEED A SHORT JEEP SAFARI INSTEAD?
If you do not have time to go on for 4 hrs Jeep Safari inside Chitwan National Park, we have other option for you. That is Jeep Safari in Kumrose Community Forest. Sharing Jeeps are available most of the time till 3 pm and this tour lasts for 2.5 hrs.

This walk provides you with the ideal situation of viewing the wild animals very close. Bird Watching is always best on foot. Our specialists will help you spot to identify the different varieties of birds, both local and migratory, that are found in Nepal.
The jungle Scenery, birds and animals alone do not make up the unique features of Chitwan National Park. The indigenous local people, the Tharus, are also of immense interest. A professional guide/expert naturalist will accompany you through the area and help you gather insights into the Tharu way of life.
Tharu Cultural Dance Program Chitwan – A cultural program performed by the Tharus will be another highlight of your visit to the Jungle Safari Lodge. The Tharus in colorful traditional costumes, unique in their disparity with the common mode of dress all over Nepal, are sure to captivate you.
Another thrilling experience for you in Sauraha will be the bathing and swimming with Elephants in Rapti River. You can enjoy with playful elephants in deep water of Rapti rivers where you can also have opportunity for dipping and diving as per your wish.
Crocodile breeding center is one of the most enjoyable program which is the part of Jeep Safari in Chitwan National Park or can be done separately. The endangered program is receiving attention of Chitwan National Park. Along with the Crocodile you can enjoy viewing scary Mugger Crocodile.
It is is located in the isolated place from the crowd which is on the time frame of 20-30 minutes. The charming view of Crocodile from egg to giant one will make your visit fruitful.
Ox Cart or Pony ride is one of the best option to explore tharu village in Sauraha, Chitwan. One Ox cart can accommodate 6 person once where tour guide will be there explain about the indigenous tharu community’s Culture & their lifestyle and other many things. 20 Thousand Lake Chitwan which is know as 20 Hajar Tal is renowned for Bird Watching place and home of different species of birds along with migrant birds. 20 Thousand Lake is also famous for alternative Jeep Safari when inside National Park Jeep Safari is closed.
